In a recent complaint, a 2022 visitor to the Venetian in Las Vegas alleges that security guards at the casino resort shoved him to the ground, causing him to go into a two-day coma and leaving him with permanent bodily and psychological injuries.

Two Venetian security guards allegedly challenged LA resident Javier Marquez for wearing his slacks below his waist, "consistent with current clothing trends," according to the lawsuit, which was filed on Wednesday and was initially published by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The cops clarified that Marquez met the description of the man they were responding to, who had been reported to be "exposing himself." Marquez and his wife were enjoying his birthday in Vegas.

The plaintiff turned down the cops' offer to be escorted back to his hotel room so he could change; they were named in the lawsuit as Michael Palmer and William Silvey. The complaint claims that they compelled him to use a wheelchair and mechanical shackles.

The lawsuit then claims that a third officer reacted by using what it called "excessive force" to push Marquez onto the pavement.

The plaintiff had a head injury that led him to black out. He was sent to a nearby hospital, where upon waking up two days later, he found that his right eye, face, jaw, and teeth were all damaged, some of which he had lost.

Marquez's lawsuit claims that he "continues to suffer mentally and emotionally," enduring excruciating pain and cognitive impairment, and finding it difficult to do everyday chores, including running his business, which has resulted in financial difficulties.

Nancy Marquez, Marquez's wife, is also included as a plaintiff for the anguish she endured "watching the man she once knew transformed by this traumatic event" and the alleged loss of "companionship, comfort, and partnership" because of the incident.

The complaint claims that Marquez's bodily and mental impairments caused "deep strain on the marriage from the lasting impact."

The manager on duty at the Venetian, Alexis Padilla, is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit for allegedly neglecting to make sure that an incident report was submitted.
