Gig Software Plc, a B2B iGaming tech firm located in Sweden, has revealed a collaboration with PowerPlay Online Casino and Sportsbook, which is licensed and operational in Ontario.

The announcement represents the fourth brand introduction in Ontario and is GiG’s fourth openly revealed partnership launch in 2025 within other regulated markets. PowerPlay debuted in Ontario in 2023, providing slots, live dealer games, video poker, and sports wagering.

Through the agreement, PowerPlay obtains access to GiG’s iGaming platform, its content management system, and the sportsbook known as Sport X. Additionally, PowerPlay will utilize GiG’s AI resources, DataX and LogicX, to assist in acquiring players and retaining customers.

“The successful migration to GiG’s technology platform is a milestone for PowerPlay as we continue to grow in Ontario,” said PowerPlay CEO Dean Serrao. “This partnership allows us to offer an enhanced and seamless experience for our players while leveraging GiG’s flexible and scalable solutions to expand our presence in the market. We are excited for what’s ahead and confident this move will help us strengthen our position as a leading brand in the province.”

Ontario: A Major Gaming Market in North America

Ontario is nearing the third anniversary of its regulated, competitive iGaming market launch in April, and has become one of the largest iGaming markets in North America.

In February, Ontario had 50 licensed operators and 84 active licensed gaming websites. In February, the market recorded total wagers of CA$7.12 billion (a decline from CA$7.83 billion in January) and achieved $280 million in total nonadjusted gross gaming revenue, reflecting a 15% decrease compared to CA$327.9 million in January.

Elbows Elevated: Advantage in Competition

PowerPlay is counting on the transition to GiG’s top-tier technology as a transformative factor for their position in the market.

“GiG’s expertise in delivering market-leading technology is once again proving instrumental in helping partners such as PowerPlay navigate the complexities of regulated markets,” said GiG CEO Richard Carter. “The successful launch into Ontario highlights our ability to facilitate seamless market entry while ensuring stability and scalability for long-term growth. Our continued focus on delivering a market-leading service provision, from secure platform infrastructure to optimized user experiences, is key to enabling partners to maximize their potential.
