Powerball Launching New Nationwide Lottery Draw Game This Weekend
Gambling News
18 Feb 2026All of the lottery news is focused on Powerball and Mega Millions, but this weekend a new game will be released in the United States. Additionally, it has the potential to instantly make you a millionaire seven days a week.
This Sunday, February 22, the Multi-State Lottery Association, a nonprofit organization that operates Powerball on behalf of the 48 member states that participate in the interstate lottery game, will launch a brand-new national game. Each draw offers participants the opportunity to win up to $1 million annually for life under the Millionaire for Life draw package.
"Winning a million dollars a year for life is the jackpot of a lifetime,” said Tom Seaver, the senior director of the Colorado Lottery, who is heading up the oversight of the new game. “Millionaire for Life adds a strong new option to lottery game portfolios while giving players more choice in how and when they play for these life-changing prizes.”
In thirty states as well as the District of Columbia, Millionaire for Life is making its debut. Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming are among the participating states.
Lottery Drawing in the Central Time Zone
Millionaire for Life will be drawn every night in the Central Standard Time zone at 10:15 pm, in contrast to Powerball and Mega Millions, which are drawn at 10:59 pm and 11:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). EST is one hour ahead of CST.
The odds of winning the top prize in the $5 draw game Millionaire for Life are one in more than 22.9 million. The odds are 1 in 5.73 million for a second-tier prize of $100,000 annually for life.
Similar to Powerball, Millionaire for Life draws a total of six balls. The green Millionaire Ball is drawn after five white balls. The white balls have numbers ranging from 1 to 58. Five Millionaire Balls are present.
There are nine ways to win, with matching two white balls or a white ball and the Millionaire Ball earning the smallest sum of $8 (net $3). There is a 1 in 15.65 chance of earning $8.
There is a 1 in 8.46 chance of winning a prize altogether. A share of each ticket stays with the host lottery that sold the play to support public programs and services, just like with all lottery products from the Multi-State Lottery Association.
Games of Powerball
In addition to Powerball, Lotto America, 2by2, Double Play, and Jackpot USA, Millionaire for Life is the sixth game offered by the Multi-State Lottery Association. Every game is a draw, with the exception of Jackpot USA. The lottery terminal is used to create the instant-play game Jackpot USA.
An estimated $109.4 billion was made from state lottery sales in 2025. That was a 3.6% drop from the previous year.
